Photo Finish Foundation Primer

What it is:
Smashbox makeup artists use this product to create a perfect canvas for foundation application.

What it is formulated to do:
The silky blend of vitamins and antioxidants smoothes and perfects skin, while the unique formula helps to inhibit the destruction of collagen, and fills in fine lines and pores for a flawless finish

Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer (the original one) is clear, and goes on clear. It primes the face and prepares the skin for the application of foundation and other make-up. It also helps fill in small lines and wrinkles, and make the skin appear to have an even finish.

The consistency

It comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser, which is very handy. The PhotoFinish primer is a silicone based product and it glides easily on skin. Its like applying thin layer of oil. The consistency is neither too thick nor too liquidy. It may sound gross, applying oil on face before make-up, but it does help in winters, especially if skin is more on drier side. Once applied, after few seconds the product sets itself and the skin appears smooth, soft and silky. Very little amount of product is needed. A pea size amount would cover the whole face, or may be abit more.
Unlike the Cargo Blu-Ray Mattifier, i didn't find it turning from cream to powder or giving a matte finish. As i mentioned this glides easily, like oil...not powder.

Original PhotoFinish is clear, but it still evens out the skin tone.
I tried this original formula in a sample size tube, and later got the one with Dermaxy complex in a Smashbox kit.

This one is slightly peachy/apricot in color, but that doesn't affects the skintone. It works like the clear one. The only plus point with this formulation is that it has SPF of 15 and thus imparts some protection from the harmful UVA/UVB rays. It has no offensive smell or scent. A tiny tiny amount is needed to cover the whole face.

It has vitamins and Anti-oxidants, that claims to slow down the aging process...(hehe...u knw what this means to all of us)

In a nut shell,

Pros:

1. Awesome, non-drying, light weight.
2. Fragrance free.
3. Works on all skintones.
4. Evens out fine lines and dimineshes pores. (it really does)
5. Glides easily.
6. Comes with an easy dispenser, a pump.
7. Plastic, sturdy container.
8. Product consistency is not very thick or not very fluidy.

Cons:

1. Silicone based primer.
2. Oily skin people may find it bit oily by end of the day.
3. Price...a whopping $42 for 1 oz. bottle.
