Sony's plans for coordinating and releasing the PS Vita in Europe are a "mess", according to a source speaking to VideoGamer.com.
Third-party publishers are finding it difficult to effectively plan for a European launch because of mixed signals from Sony's internal divisions.
Sony Japan is encouraging publishers to aim for a November launch for the device in the UK and other European territories. Sony Europe, on the other hand, is supposedly "being very cagey about dates".
The news comes amid growing speculation that the PS Vita will not be out in Europe before 2012.
Sources expressed doubt that Sony's current plans for the European launch of PS Vita are "all a bit of an up in the air mess," they said, adding that "If [Sony] is launching in the next six months it should know by now."
The source, who requested to not be publicly named, works for a third-party publisher prominent on the PSP. The publisher is currently developing an unannounced launch title for Vita to be distributed digitally on PlayStation Network.
Sony declined to comment.
Earlier this week online retailer ShopTo listed the device to launch on November 4 in the UK, with an RRP of £229.99 for the Wi-Fi model.
