Ezio Might Return In Future Assassin's Creed Games
Assassin's Creed: Revelations is the "final chapter" in the story of Ezio Auditore, but according to franchise brand manager Jan Sanghera, we may encounter the smouldering rogue in future outings.
Thanks to the Animus device, a machine that generates VR mock-ups of memories preserved in genetic code, Ubisoft's writers are at liberty to revisit characters, events and settings from previous games. Assassin's Creed posterboy Altair has an undivulged part to play in Revelations; he's visible in trailers as a drifting spectre.
"Nothing is confirmed in the case of new Assassin's Creed games, but it's always possible," Sanghera commented when asked whether Ezio himself might also reappear once his time as leading man is up. "We've got a great franchise on our hands, a great setup, a great framework to build on in future."
With three outings under his belt, Ezio is practically a franchise in his own right. Will Ubisoft string together another series of releases around a single Assassin?
"It's one of those things, it's possible. We could look to do that again in the future. We've used Ezio now for Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood and Revelations - we've built him up, we saw him from when he was born. In Revelations he's older and wiser but as deadly as ever.
"We've actually followed his path in life, his path through Assassin's Creed. Really built up the character. And fans have followed his life and story through the Assassin's Creed franchise. It's always good fun doing that, we might look to do that again in future Assassin's games, or perhaps
not. It's open for the development team to explore."
